Hotel/Motel/B&B in Mazatlan

Can't Post | Private Reply
Seasons Greetings!

Two sisters-in-law and I will have the immense pleasure of being in Mazatlan Dec. 3 through Dec. 14. We've all visited before, but they've spent their time at all inclusives and I've camped! Any suggestions re a clean, attractive place to stay, on or near the beach, would be greatly appreciated. I have checked on line, but am looking for suggestions based on personal experience or knowledge.

Thanks so much,

Marcia

The suggestion will depend on the area and the amenities you need. Prices vary depending which beach area you choose. If you could be a little more specific about what you are looking for (ie: all 3 sharing one hotel room or something larger?)it would be easier to make a suggestion that suits you. It is a great time to visit Mazatlan.

It really is. The weather has been remarkable. Being outside is intoxicating... it's the perfect mix of warm sunshine and cool breeze with just the right hint of humidity. I love it!

To boldly go where no wig has gone before.

Hi Marlene,

Glad to hear that now is a great time to be visiting! We are all three familiar with the Golden Zone and relatively comfortable in that area. However, heaven forbid we get stuck in a rut! I know there is much more to Mazatlan then the Golden Zone, and we're open to trying something different. We can manage with one room if necessary but would prefer something larger...ie...a small suite with bedroom and pullout couch would be good. Don't imagine we'd find three singles.

As for the beach, my sisters prefer being poolside but I love the ocean, so a beach where I can swim and float with the waves (and convince them to try!) would be wonderful!

When I asked them what they were looking for they said "clean, a pool, and easy access to busses, restaurants and shopping". And I'd like a swimming beach, so there you go! We pretty much want everything! Except night clubs...we've passed through the "party hearty" age and "relax and rejuvinate" sounds good!

I also hope to connect with a realtor or two while we're there. I've lived in Puerto Vallarta and visited several other areas of Mexico, most recently Progreso. Always with an eye to which would be the ideal retirement spot. I've appreciated the informative posts on this and other forums. Very helpful for those such as myself attempting to make wise decisions when faced with a smorg of intriguing choices!

Sorry I didn't give more info in the initial post. Look forward to your response.

Marcia

Without knowing your budget, I will try to recommend medium range. Hotel Playa Mazatlan or Hotel Los Flores in the Golden Zone would be good choices right on the beach and near everything... If you want to get out of that tourist rut you mention...try the Hotel Hacienda (between Golden Zone and old Town with great service and nice pool area) or the Hotel Posada Freeman in Olas Altas with a roof top pool. Both are across from beaches. If price is no object, I can recommend a fabulous penthouse suite in Olas Altas with killer views and private bedrooms for each of you.

Hi Marlene,

I know it has been quite some time, but I wish to thank you for your recommendations re hotels. We stayed at the Playa Mazatlan, and enjoyed it immensely. It was difficult, as per usual, to come home! Even more difficult to be home, with temps dropping to minus 39 C this last week.

One day, when money is no object, (ha!), we'll try the "fabulous penthouse suite". Look forward to it!

Thanks again, and all the best in the new year.

Marcia
