2005 is already upon us! It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the new millenium. How time flies when.... I had an interesting New Years Eve, again different than the last and always completely different from my New Years celebrations in Canada. New Years Eve is a great example of local and family traditions (as discussed on the main forum) Amidst the toasts and good wishes at midnight, an American friend said casually "Let's hope we all have a better 2005". My husband looked at him, puzzled, and said "But I had a great 2004, it will be hard to have a better year than I just had". He then named the year's events which had meant a great deal to him. It was rather humbling to the rest of us. Everyone sitting at the table received a valuable lesson about appreciating the small things in life, including myself. (I entered the new year with a new attitude about good fortune, and it no longer includes thoughts of winning a lottery! LOL) Saludos and best to everyone, Marlene.
