Mazatlan's tourist zone has caught a serious break from the restrictive Dry Law (Ley Seca) that accompanies elections. The bars and restaurants in the tourist areas will be permitted to remain open on election day, Sunday, and as long as meals are served at the table, drinks can be served. The rest of the city, and the State, will follow the usual old Dry Law and close up shop early on Saturday evening until Monday morning.
