Driving This Wednesday/Thursday??

Thinking about dashing up the coast to Alamos from Mazatlan tomorrow Wednesday and or Thursday. But concerned about the traffic. Anyone with any experience on the coast during the holiday?

Are you referring to Hwy 15, the toll road?

We drove Hwy 15 from Nogales to Hermosillo yesterday. This was between 2pm and 5pm. There did not seem to be any more traffic than usual for a weekday and probably less than on a Saturday or Sunday.

There were, however, at least two large Cruz Roja setups along the way. If I recall correctly they had setup near some existing topes and had added orange traffic cones to separate the lanes. There were young men and women collecting for Cruz Roja. Although we already had a small red cross sticker on our windshield from a previous, small donation in Hermosillo, they still stuck out their collection bottle. I stuffed in 50 pesos and received a much larger red cross sticker that I am sure will be seen here in town by the collectors.

My partner got bit by a young mantaray over at kino Bay a couple of years ago. The Cruz Roja took care of him at the time and did not charge him a dime, nor a peso. So we try to be as generous as we can with them at this time of year when they are collecting.

Anyway, Hwy 15 was in good shape yesterday, at least as far as Hermosillo.

Buena suerte y Buen Viaje.

Your experience may be different, but I left that sticker on a little too long and had one heck of a time getting all the glue off my mirror. Of course, that was before "Goo Gone" so things may be different now.

John,

That larger sticker may just make it easier for solicitors to spot you. It is a well-known fact that charities like to target previous donors.

I definitely believe in donating to charity, and the Mexican Red Cross truly deserves it.
