We are going to the Lake Chapala are for close to a week in mid April. After that we have another week and are in the throes of a decision making process about what to do with that week. That would be the week after the week after Easter, so we are hoping things are settled down some on the coast, because we would like to head there. Mazatlan is attractive, in part because it seems like a good candiate for a retirement location. We have never been there, but from the reading I have done the Zona Dorada and other heavily touristic areas are not our main area of interest - though we love beaches and would spend time exploring those. I have had some difficulty finding much good information/websites about living in Mazatlan, neighborhoods and areas of the city, and really on much outside of tourist oriented places/activities. So, I would appreciate some help in that regard - make that very much appreciate. There have been a couple of private messages about accomodations on Av. del Mar, and I very much appreciate those. On the other hand, the Melaque area looks attractive and appealing also - as do a lot of places on the Pacific coast. Will need to make some decisions before too terribly long so we can figure out where we fly out of. Plan on doing the Mexico part of the trip using public transportation. From Lake Chapala (5 nights) we are considering taking the bus to San Miguel for a couple of days and then taking the bus to the Pacific coast for 4 nights. I know that may be trying to do too much on one trip, but on prior trips 4 days seemed enough to get a small flavor of a place. ------ Planning for Mexico Move Blog
