I can only answer one of your questions accurately. Yes, your Sears card will work in a Sears store in Mexico. It is important to know that Sears in Mexico is set up as a separate company from Sears in the USA. Do not expect to find all the brand names that you are used to seeing in a Sears in the USA. Do not expect any warranties issued in The USA to be honored here, they may be, and they may not be honored here. I wouldn’t count on it.
We have used our Sears cards here in Cuernavaca to buy furniture a couple of times. It was quicker than going to an ATM for a few days to get enough cash. Since our cards were issued in The USA, credit approval cannot be done in a Mexican store, using a computer.
It required a phone call to Sears in The USA for credit approval. It took about an hour to an hour and a half each time to get our credit approved. We were told that there is only one telephone in the local Sears store that is capable of making international phone calls.
About a year ago, my wife was in Sears and wanted to buy some small item. She didn’t have enough cash on her to make the purchase. She decided that instead of going out into the mall to find an ATM, she would just use her Sears card. The cashier refused to process the sale. She said she could only use our US Sears card if she was going to make a purchase of $3,000 or $4,000 Pesos. (3 or 400 US Bucks.)
I don’t know if that is a Sears Mexico policy, a local store policy, or just a lazy cashier. It doesn’t really matter; my wife won’t buy anything from Sears since then.
You won’t be able to bring in as many bottles of whisky as you stated. I have forgotten the exact number allowed, but it is only 2 or 3 bottles. I don’t know if you can bring in more than that amount even if you pay duty on them. Someone else will probably have that answer. Incidentally, when someone in Mexico says whisky, they are virtually always referring to Scotch whisky.
I have never noticed if Costco sells Yuban brand coffee, but I have never looked for it either. I just asked my wife if she ever saw any there, and she can’t remember seeing it either. But again, we don’t use that brand. If by large cans, you mean the three-pound size, yes that is the same large size used here. The weight is usually listed in KG, and pounds.
If you can’t find Yuban here, there are many fine coffees grown in Mexico, and many places that will custom blend coffee for you. You will no doubt find a suitable replacement for Yuban here.
