too much fun and a mural maybe?

I just wanted to let you all know how much I'm enjoying the forums. Being so thoroughly entertained and informed is a rare treat. I'm looking forward to meeting you all (or as many as want to be met!)

I'm a mural artist, and I'm pretty fast (at painting that is,..I am getting on...) The point being that I would gladly paint something cheerful or stimulating (depending on the need!) at an orphanage or a nursing home while I'm there. I am pretty expensive though... something exotic with a significant amount of rum in it would about cover it,..and some raspberries and a fig and..maybe...a partridge in a pear tree. ( or is it a cartridge in a bare tree? I get that confused sometimes.)

Hi Peggy,

We plan on being there the first two weeks of October. We'll be looking around for the "perfect" place for us. Our moving time schedule is at the very latest, summer of 2005, but I'm scheming to get down there sooner.

I'll bring my bushes and paints with me. If I need gallon size I'm sure there is a place to buy that there. I only work in water based paints, so there won't be any fumes to bother anyone. I'm really looking forward to it.

Ajijic. If they don't have a paint store, I'm sure we'll be going to Guad at some point.,,

I was reading through a "Heart Smart" recipe book last night and they had incredible raspberry recipes. I may have to bring copies when I come. I can't get over the amazingly long season for them. The ones here are pretty iffy in size and taste and have a pretty short season. I'm the only one around here that has even attempted to grow them. I've been trying to duplicate the ones that my mother would pick every morning while they were in season and bring them in for a sweet treat on my cereal. Washington state and Mississippi have very few things in common, growing raspberries being another example. It seems like here you work five times as hard to get a third as much and it's half the quality.

I am s ready to grow something in Ajijic. I just had a thought. If you were to grow a garden on your patio or whatever, in large pots and were careful what you watered them with, would all the disinfecting be necessary?

Ajijic has two paint stores, Comex and Prisa. We also have a mural painter, Efren González. He's painted murals on the facades of several schools in the area. He also owns an art supply store in town, and I believe that he speaks a good bit of English. You'll have fun.

I don't think that we'll be able to sqeeze Alcapulco in this trip, but I'd really like to visit again, and when I do,..You betcha I'll do it. I haven't been there in over thirty years. The Bay at the time was great and small boys would bring up clams and oysters to eat on the half shell with some lime and tabasco. It was wonderful. I was twenty one and the people were so incredible. I'm not sure if they were that way to everyone or they thought I must be retarded and needed taking care of, but I had Mamas and Uncles and all kinds of people watching out for me. I spoke no Spanish, but it didn't seem to matter. The memory is very warm and fuzzy.

Give something back? Oh yeah.
