dialysis info

Hello,

Thinking about spending a couple of months (Jan & Feb) where the weather is a little nicer next winter. However, my wife is on dialysis and would like some information/input from other folks on dialysis. She has been on hemo, but has just started on PD with a cycler. Anyones experiences would be helpful and appreciated.

Maybe you are getting some private replies, but since no responses were posted here I just want to offer this. I have no personal experience, but due to Mexico's very high incidence of diabetes, I know there are many people on dialysis. I have a nurse friend who only works with dialysis patients, both at the government hospital, IMSS, and at a private dialysis center. I am sure whatever your wife needs is available--unfortunately, I do not live in the Ajijic/Chapala area, so I cannot give any local information.

While I don't have all the exact details, a friend was making the drive from Portland, OR to the Lake Chapala area back in 1998. His Portland doctor was able to schedule dialysis along his route and then in Guadalajara for his stay in Mexico. From what he related to me, the facilities in Guadalajara were excellent and he had no complaints.
