The Virgin of Guadalupe is big in San Juan Cosala - just west of Ajijic. The celebration starts about a week before Dec. 12th. Many of the people in the town build shrines featuring the virgin - there are more and more every night. The night of Dec. 12th is a great time to come see the various shrines and there is a big street party at the plaza with fireworks around 10:30pm. Usually lots of music, food and aztec dancing.
