Used books

We'll be in Ajijic in less than 2 weeks. Rather than load up my suitcase with paperbacks, is there a place we can buy used paperbacks?

Also, I notice the weather forecast is in the high 60s! It had better warm up!

Two places come to mind immediately:

1) Wednesday tianguis (street market) on Revolution Street and the Carretera in Ajijic. Go to the booth for Anita's Animals, the animal rescue group, (1/2 way down Revolution St. on the right side). They sell used paperbacks to raise money to care for the animals. Accomplish two good purposes at once. Also, if you've never been to the tianguis, you'll enjoy it. Hours are generally about 10 AM - 1:30 PM on Wednesdays.

2) Lake Chapala Society, located on the corner 16th de Septiembre Street and Ramon Corona. They have a room next to the office where they sell both paper and hard back books that are surplus to the library. Prices, to the best of my recollection, are 7 pesos (approx. 50 cents US) for paperback and 10 pesos (approx. 75 cents) for hard. Pay in the Library. Get yourself a book, grab a cup of good coffee at the LCS coffee bar, and while away some time reading in the wonderful gardens. Hours are approximately 9:30 AM - 3 PM but may vary on weekends and holidays.

Enjoy your stay in Ajijic!

Cafe Magana in Riberas has an exchange area with lots of books. It's convenient to the car wash across the street, while they wash, you have a nice lunch and exchange books.

There are two thrift shops in Riberas, next door to each other, who both have a lot of books, both hard backed and paper backed, at good prices.

They are opposite the 7 Eleven in Riberas, on the corner of San Mateo (I think) - mountain side of the road.
