Take care with insurance claims

I have been warned by my attorney not to mention names or to be very specific because of the risk of a suit by the insurance company. Do not accept what they tell you regarding a claim. Have everything in writing. They are not your friends when you make a claim. They are your adversaries. If you start to get an itch you cannot scratch, it would be best to get a lawyer and not to rely on theirs as he/she works for their best interests, not yours. Be careful with ministerio publico since they too want a piece of the pie. Deal with them through an attorney. Do not make the mistake of assuming because they are all big and well known that they are honorable.

While the admonitions above are pretty useless without context but they are starting points in a trek with stones in your shoes. If they tell you something that seems to be too good to be true, it most likely is. Get it in writing and have it checked.

Being knowledgeable about insurance companies is ALWAYS a good idea, both SOB and NOB. Also one should know what their POLICY says about getting another attorney. I believe that my current policy says that if I choose to use another attorney regards a claim, they limit their coverage of said to $1000 (and it's not in very fine print!).

Isn't this the same as NOB? Maybe I"m missing something. I NEVER trust insurance companies

I agree with you. Your admonitions with no context are not helpful in any way. fug

NEVER EVER had to distrust Insurance companies NOB. Depends on your Agent and your company.

Had many, many car accidents NOB. Got a check within a week on all with fair adjustments.

Had one break in covered by replacement cost insurance for $ 6,000. US. No problems. Just submit paperwork.

Car accident in Mexico, not my fault. Took 4 1/2 months to collect from AIG. Not unusual here.
