El Bajio Restaurant

Yes, Bruno's in Ajijic is the place for steak at Lakeside. Bruno been around here for years and does a great job.

The new El Bajio "Beach Club" also has good steak dinners. Menu is similar to Bruno's. Steaks are properly grilled. Prices are reasonable. The T-bone steak is a large portion. Eat inside by the fire, or outside and watch a great sunset and view of Mt. Garcia.

Location is a couple of miles west of Ajijic but not quite as far as the fish restaurants of San Juan. Exit the carretera west of the Canacinta bus stop/Que restaurant: over the rise and near the bottom of the hill. Driving west on the carretera you see a large sign on your left for "El Bajio Beach Club" - take a left here and wind your way down the worn cobbled track towards the lake and it's at the end on your left. They are open from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday through Sunday (1:00-9:00 p.m. Sundays). Around full moon time of the month they do a bonfire ride-in Lunada hamburger and fries cookout; some ride horses out there for this.

The owner operator is David of David's Coffee breakfast & lunch cafe in Ajijic with the best coffee in the village. David is a sociable host who knows good food and is always on-site supervising in his restaurants.

Why not go to source - and the price is not bad. Tony serves his steaks cooked the way you like it. Too bad he cut out the free salad bar with dinner and you have to make sure you have dinner when he is not singing!

The salad bar is still free with dinner, we were there a couple of nights ago. Salad bar only is now listed on the menu for those who want just that - and that's why you see it listed on the menu - (someone on a diet?) - but we didn't get charged extra. I'll admit that when I saw "salad bar" and price listed on the menu, I said exactly what you did!

I agree about Tony not singing. Went there one Saturday night for dinner and it was completely spoiled because he sang all night. We could hardly talk to each other over the noise and his singing is well....should be reserved for the shower :)

I agree about the singing. Went there on the weekend a few times. Had drinks and decided to leave.. Too loud. May be ok for those in their 20s. I found it over the top. Food is good and reasonable...
Best during the week without his singing.
