Smoke Alarms Needed?

Can't Post | Private Reply
I wonder about the use of smoke alarms here and their necessity. My friends say that they're not needed because of the construction of the homes here. But I read a month or so ago about an elderly woman burning to death when something in her home caught on fire. It pointed out that she had no smoke alarms, and coincidentally, she was the widow of a Chicago fire commissioner. So what are the comments on having smoke alarms in our homes here, and where can they be bought?

Sounds like a good idea. Most deaths are from the smoke, not fire. Clothes catch on fire from stoves and heaters. Buildings seldom burn but people do. I have seen smoke detectors at Sam's. Not many other places. This may be a good fund raiser for a charity at lakeside...
