SUNDAY Chinese Dinner Specials at ROBERTO'S

At least for November, Roberto is having a Sunday Chinese Dinner menu Special for $ 85. pesos. It includes Egg Flower Soup, Spring Roll and choice of Entree. There were about 12 entrees to choose from. Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken, General Tsaos Chicken, Cashew Chicken, Szechuan Beef, Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour Pork or Chicken, Mu Shu Pork, Honey Shrimp, Chop Suey with Chicken or Pork, Lo Mein and others.

Seven of us from our Dinner Group went tonight. They didn't serve any bread and spreads or carrot fritters to us. We all had the Egg Flower Soup and Spring Roll with a sweet sauce. I didn't care for the soup, although others liked it. The Spring Roll was excellent. Very crispy on the outside. Two persons ordered General Tsaos Chicken, Two ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken, One ordered Cashew Chicken, one ordered Szechuan Beef and one ordered Chop Suey. All entrees came with Fried Rice. We all agreed the food was good. They could have given everyone a bit more rice.

The restaurant was very busy and service was very good.

I would not expect bread or butter with a Chinese dinner.

Chuckle, on the bread..

We went yesterday. Not bad at all, but this ain't Geary street.

The kung pao chicken my husband had was fiery. I had cashew chicken, since I was staying in the kids' end of the picante pool. The spring roll could have used more flavor, but hey.............who woulda thunk a nice blond Southern CA boy would set up a Chinese special in Mexico? Life is full of surprises.
Definitely a good deal at 85 pesos. I think the "special Chinese" is for November.

One member of our party had lasagna instead. Good choice at Roberto's, any old day.

But dang: We didn't get any fortune cookies.

Around 5:30 to 6:30. I think it was just a forgetful waiter in this case. We did get fortune cookies at lunch a few days earlier. Spanish and English....wow! So.....I was just fooling around there.

We were there at 5:00 PM and left about 6:30 PM. We sat outside under the wooden roof in the corner where the white side curtains were pulled down. There was a heater in the corner.
