Hired a taxi driver that I have used several times before to take me to a hospital in GDL today to pick up a friend who just had major surgery and bring him back home to Villa Nova. Total time elapsed four hours. The cost was 900 pesos. When he helped me get up off of the ground from my shock at this price and I asked for an explanation, he said that it is 450 pesos to take folks to GDL and then another 450 to bring them back home. Stupid me, I tried to reason with him by explaining that taking folks to GDL for 450 and returning alone with no income was a loss to him, as he had to go home. Anyway, I offered to split the difference 675 for round trip, as he had to go home anyway. He said 900. When he saw how angry I was, he handed me 50 pesos back, as to only charge me 850. I handed him the 50 pesos back and said I will pay your price, but you will never drive me again. What do you folks think is a fair round trip price from Ajijic to GDL, which took four hours. This guy made 225 pesos per hour. I would love to find a job here that paid half that and so would a lot of folks, especially Mexicans. Should I call him and let him know why he will never be used by me again or just let it go and not call him again? Thanks, fug PS I DO ABSOLUTELY REALIZE THAT I AM AT FAULT FOR NOT GETTING AN UPFRONT PRICE FROM HIM, BUT HE WAS A TRUSTED PERSON AND DID NOT THINK HE WOULD RIP ME OFF. HOPE NONE OF YOU EVER MAKE THIS MISTAKE.
