Hey Ya'll
My husband and I are considering moving to Ajijic, for health reasons...I get hives in changing weather. I know weird isn't it. Anyway we want to go there next April and May (2003) to test the waters and see if you'se guy's are really as nice as we heard you were. So my question is...does anyone have a nice property...condo with 2 bedrooms etc. that you would like to rent to 2 really nice adults who are neat as pins? You may email me at bkillette@aol.com if you got some info. Peace Betty

Hi Betty
That is the worst time to come. Most people leave at that time if possible. April and most of May are hot and humid. Even the evenings are not comfortable. By mid to late May the rains starts and the weather is wonderful. I would imagin you could find a real deal at that time but it wouldn't give you a real true impression of the area. Why not wait until June or July. Days are quite warm but the evenings are great. It is Cool and a nice breeze. You will enjoy it more and there are more Gringos here. The fall and winter is the best. many more things to do and see at that time..

You will not find the weather brutal, hot and humid in the Guadalajara/ Chapala/ Ajijic areas.
That is a description on the coastal areas.
April and May is the hot time of the year, but air conditioning is not needed. Where I live, it is not that humid and we usually get a nice cooling breeze in the evenings.

Absolutely the worst time to come. I don't find it humid at all. April May are very very hot and very very dry. The rains do not usually come in May. More toward the middle of June although this year it was near the end of June.
I agree with Lucy, July August is a great time here as everything starts to turn green. The rains usually only come at night and you get spectacular lightening shows.
There are plenty of housing bargins here in July August.
Last year April/May were brutal with temps in the low 90's most of the time.
Lucy is right. Everyone tries to escape to the coast during those months.

Right, it's hot and humid in the coastal areas, Puerto Vallerta etc, but hey we're here in the mountains.......Hello!
It may be the warmest part of the year, but it is still beautiiful, no humidity, lovely weather, and don't let people scare you who do not live here but who love to pretend to know it all.
Chula Vista is lovely with wonderful views. Come and enjoy and make up your own minds. Stop in at the Lake Chapala Society, make new friends, have fun at the local restaurants with their great food and don't miss the local concerts at the auditorium and the plays at the Little Theater.
We'll be looking forward to meeting you.

Dear Betty,

The other posters are correct in that this is the worst time of the year but even at it's worst here at lakeside is still comfortable. We do not even know anyone who uses A/C. We have a ceiling fan in the living room and maybe run it 10 times in a year. It does get pretty warm during the day but at night, like other mountian locations, it cools off.

The daytime temperatures in late April and May 2002 ran close to 95 degrees Farenheit most days~it was the hottest May in the last 40 years. Night-time temperatures cooled off to around 65 degrees Farenheit. The humidity during that time usually runs between 10-15%...very dry and dusty. Ordinarily in mid-to-late May we get at least one night-time thunderstorm which precedes the rainy season, and the 2002 season was true to pattern.

The 2002 rainy season started in mid-June and lasted until mid-November, with thunderstorms mainly at night. After a week to 10 days of nightly June rains, the trees on the mountains leaf out and the mountain views are lush again. Temperatures during the rainy season range between 75-85 degrees Farenheit during the normally sunny days to 55-60 during the night. Occasionally during the rainy season we get daytime rainy or drizzly weather due to the tail of a coastal hurricane which sweeps closer to us.

C'mon down.
