Does this mean that certain other approved restaurants are off limits for vacationers or newbies? Why wouldn't one restaurant list be good for all?

I like the list, however it would lead newbies to believe that there's no Mexican food here. Some other choices include: Aurora's, El Sarape, Mariscos Peter, Tacos Nico, Mariscos Lety, Cozumel, and Jose's.

DavidHF - Good point, but we can only recommend restaurants that our Dinner group eats at. We don't eat at the others. I'm sure some of them may be very good.

Someone needs to start a new topic "Recommended Mexican Restaurants" with addresses, telephone number, food and cost. I'll believe it when I see someone willing to do the work.

and let's remember exactly why Mexican restaurants are not included in john's dinner group selections: because John hates Mexican food. To his credit, he openly admits this. But, I always wonder, what kind of foodie moves to Mexico when they hate Mexican food?

The logic defeats me.

Pita - I suspect you go by another name on another board from those uneccessary negative comments. Does moving to Mexico mean that it's a prerequisite to liking Mexican food? Not. We all have our preferences in food. I don't tell you what kind of food you should like, do I? You eat what you like and I'll eat what I like. Different strokes.............

Not intended to be negative, John. Just a point of fact that should be disclosed to those who are new here.

But I do agree with the different strokes.

Additions to that excellent list: carloli's (for seafood) and the new quesidilla place, both on Colon in downtown Ajijic.
