For all international calling, I use a computer program available free at www.delta3.com . It takes just a few minutes to download the program and add money to your calling account using a credit card. You can add whatever amount you like; the website will prompt you through the process. The program allows you to call through your computer to any telephone anywhere in the world. In order to use the computer-to-telephone program, you will need an inexpensive computer-compatible headset (speakers and microphone, just like a telephone operator), which you can buy from any of the computer hardware sellers in Ajijic or Chapala. I checked the rates to China a moment ago. Calls from your computer to your daughter's telephone will cost $0.144 per minute. Yes, less than 15 cents per minute. I think that's the best you'll do from here. I use this program constantly. To call the USA or Canada, the rate is just barely over ONE PENNY a minute. The service works extremely well and I recommend it unequivocally. http://www.mexicocooks.typepad.com
