Open Circle - Joco history 30 Jan (I have permission from the author of this post to copy it here).

This Sunday: Our presenter is Aida

A Fishing Fleet on Lake tells the story of a family that invested their winnings from cockfight bets in fishing nets and boats to establish what became the largest fishing enterprise on the lake. Their daily business activity, the need to transport the catch over mountains on animal backs to neighboring towns, all in the backdrop of the Mexican Revolution of 1910 brought them a series of funny, difficult, fearful, extraordinary, and terrible experiences, all of which are very interesting.

Aida was born in the municipality of Jocotepec. She studied English and French in Guadalajara, and my university studies were in psychology. For twenty years she compiled historical information of Jocotepec which was published in 2002 in the book titled "Jocotepec, from pre-Hispanic time to The Revolution", in both Spanish and English.

In January of 2007 her second book titled "Photo History of Jocotepec Jalisco" was published both in Spanish and English.

In 2008 she produced a photo-documentation of the flora, fauna, landscapes, and architecture of Jocotepec, Jalisco.

In January 2009 she published, "A Photo History of Jocotepec Jalisco, Second Edition." This book was well received for its images and historic content and will soon be available in English.

In October of 2010 she received recognition for participation and selection in the top 20 of the state of Jalisco's contest for "Histories of Family" with the essay titled "A Fishing Fleet in Lake of Chapala."

She has taken the culinary flavors and the Mexican culture to foreign homes in the American, European, African continents, and to the Middle East. Through the study of architecture, art, archaeology, and history she has followed the passages of the great civilizations.
