One Might Think

  | Private Reply
That the only thing to do in the Lake Chapala area is to EAT. Look at the first page of this section and one will find 10 or so topics related to eating. I would think that there must be something else to do and occupy people's time that would be worthy of discussions?

ROFL, dawg....or we could talk about the wild affairs we think somebody is having, or even having ourselves, should we be so foolish.

Let's see: We could discuss recent books we have read (only about Mexico, of course).

If we have an avocation, we could bore everyone to tears talking about it.

We cold bore everyone beyond tears by talking about our recent vacation/cruise,getaway and worse, we could post pictures.

For a further stage of boredom, we could talk about and post pictures of our darling children/granchildren

For an advanced stage of boredom, we could discuss our illnesses, our medications and our surgeries more than once. (You get one pass on that one.)

And finally, if it were not forbidden (thank hevvins) we could discuss politics, get red in the face and raise our blood pressure.

Neil.........be glad we just talk a lot about eating out. At least we're saving each other from wasting money on lousy food. Things could be worse. (see above).

Probably the best specialty for a physician would be a cardiologist at the Lake since everyone is always eating. Doesn't sound like a Jenny Craig or a Total Gym franchise would work since everyone could not take time out of their chow down schedule. No wonder they object to flushing toilet paper!

Here we go again, CG:
Assuming that you are slim and fit and seldom dine out (and are, therefore, a superior being).........I hope you recognize just how snide that sounded. Why? What's the point? Most of us were just kicking things around and having a good time. A wet blanket is not exactly a popular item.

Around here, there are plenty of people who eat far too much of the least healthy foods. They aren't too dumb to know this. It's simply their choice and if there's a heaven or hell, they'll get there sooner.

Enough of the podium, already.

Hard to understand is it not, Neil? If one is forced to live in the single ugliest urban rathole in all of the Americas outside of New Jersey it must be hard to understand why anyone would want to actually eat. I understand that the big night out in Albuquerque is when McDonalds, considered high cuisine in that redneck burg, disposes of its leftover cheeseburgers once a month just before mildew sets in and the really big event is when the local morons charter a bus once a month to Old Mesilla for sopapillas which Albuqurequeans think of as exotic food. Hold the mayo.

How about the lake level. Boy I would really, really, really like to know the current level and how much it differs from last year on this same date. I think we would all sleep better tonight if that was clarified. Or maybe even the weather. My bet is that the sun is shining. Maybe the mutt's wife has taken advantage of the glorious Chapala sun and hung his undershorts on the line to dry. Seeing those humongous pieces of white cloth flapping in the Ajijic breeze with the nearby lake in the background may remind one of the tall ships in San Francisco Bay unfurling their topsails as they head out to sea.

Or at leat Mobile Bay and perhaps they more resemble the shrimp boats nets and of course we can't get those sweeter than Tupelo honey Gulf shrimp here but if you know who is who at the Mercado del Mar in Zapopan you can find their equally equally delicious Pacific Ocean cousins.

What's for lunch btw?

Since I refuse to use smiley faces or Internet abbreviations to get across some good-natured kidding, I guess that I must return to Creative Writing 101 to learn how to write correctly without offending someone. Far be it from me to intentionally criticize someone's waist size when I have never seen them in person. Besides, looking in the mirror certainly doesn't give me any right!

what nonsense, there are plenty of nonboring things to talk about without 2 or 3 dingbats taking over a board with drivel about eating out mainly in agigic.
especially when one of them constantly digresses to inform us about their past life no matter what the topic.
thanks bennie fer a hoot of a description of the grate masticator.

"...the shrimp boats nets and of course we can't get those sweeter than Tupelo honey Gulf shrimp...."

Of course, even a complete moron knows that Tupelo is hundreds of miles from the Gulf and the nearest salt water shellfish but I do suppose that Bennie remembers the Gulf ecosystem mindlesly attacked by BP or how many trees protected the mountain slopes in Southern Mexico before he facilitated their removal thus lining the pockets of his repulsive bosses and assuring the future destruction of the planet for the sake of moments of pleasure expending filthy lucre for transient sweets soon digested and emitted as repulsive and dangerous digestive waste. Tell me this, Bennie; who has spoiled the planet more than Dawg? I never cut down a tree in my 68 years on the planet but I sure as hell wasted a ton of cheap papèr for nothing anyone remembers. We should all rot in hell.

How about Sioux Bee honey? Which neither it nor Tupelo honey can compare to the honey harvested from the families mango orchards on the coast.

Next time you wanna play the old guilt trip game remember all of those cheap fast food burgers you've scarfed in your lifetime, Wimpy, and then you can criticize others for saving valuable hardwoods from going up in smoke as they do in the slash and burn policies of cattle ranchers clearing land to raise beef for your artery clogging Whoppers.

God, I´d love to keep up this challenging discourse but I feel compelled to leave immediately for the Guadalajara airport for a cheese whopper and straight-up tequila and fly immediately off to; well damn - I forgot where I was going. Another tequila and cheese whopper, garcon. Burp!

CG: You needn't use smileys (which aren't here) to let us in on the fact when your arrows don't have metal tips. You do sometimes come across in ways you may not intend. You have now explained that...so let's let it float on down the river and be gone.

There are a few folks on here who have a truly snarky streak and delight in offending all and any.
Why, I do not know, since they are the same height after as before their outbursts.
