Tell me how it is that the initiator of a thread, who is also an official moderator, intended for discussion of issues open to controversial encounter can, once that initiator tires of the subject or finds it moving in an uncomfortable direction, has the authority to simply lock further discussion by simply declaring, "Enough already!" or something like that. Had the discussion become hostile or uncivilized? Were participants performing rudely? It seems to me that criteria for locking threads on MexicoConnect are grounded in incivility or excessive boredom. If moderators can act capriciously then where is the opportunity for rational discourse? Moderators carry the responsibility to be objective in assigning criteria for inclusion or exclusion for continued discussion. Those criteria should never be based on personal prejudices. This thread on the cuisine presented by a certain chef in a neighborhood dinery at Lakeside is a fine and interesting thread that should encourage debate. Tell me precisely what was said that warranted a lock on that discussion.
