Hi. Does the Quilt Guild still meet? I was not able to open the web site you mentioned in 2004, so I'm wondering.
I'm a new quilter and am trying to learn where to get some basic supplies in Chapala area. Can you give me any suggestions? Thanks.

Eileen - try posting on Chapala.com. The quilt guild still exists but I don't have a link to their web site.

I could not get the www.pagescribe.com/QuiltGuild/ web site to work either. Would someone please let us know when it's up and running? I was hoping to look up the address of the quilt supplies shop in Guadalara - I may be going tomorrow and can't find where I wrote it down originally...

The Quilt Guild at that site does not exist any more. A splinter group has moved & meets at LCS, I believe. You can check there.

I went to Guadalajara yesterday and found lots of fabric shops in the Santa Teresita neighborhood near downtown. The parking situation there is horrible and the stores around there close between 2 and 4 pm, so get there early (before 10 am) and wander around to the various places. I didn't find much in the way of quilting supplies--they'd be in the "mercerias" rather than the fabric stores--but we didn't really have much time to look. I did find thin batting for $10 pesos/meter at the Villa Nueva store, and they have free parking across the street but just for the time you're in their store on Pedro Buzeta street.

No, I didn't notice. But I'd think that would be a good neighborhood in which to ask. Or else ask a tailor here at lakeside. I know of one in Ajijic and one in Chapala (Olga is on Av. Hidalgo, near the dry cleaner) who might know.

Thanks for the reply. I will check out Eileen. Worse case I will make my own with duct tape - but that is a last resort!
