Need info on legality of bringing 1979 Ford F250 pickup truck

I have now sold my business although did not get what I wanted. Business here in California is very bad and can't wait to get down there. Have my FM-3 and will be selling household stuff and driving personal stuff (books ,cd's, computer etc.) in this 3/4 ton pickup. Someone here said it might be too old (although in good shape). Are there any restrictions on age of vehicles? I have downloaded all of the R.E. websites and will be looking for rentals soon. I understand that maybe April 1st is a good date to shoot for because a lot of rentals will be available then. I will be flying down about a week prior to that and spending 4 - 5 days checking out those homes I have identified online. My price range is $600 - $750 per mo. for a one year rental. Not interested in gated communities or in town. Prefer a little more in the country (maybe San Antonio?) and "Mexican" style. I will be alone (with one dog and 2 cats) so do not need a large house. Any held would be greatly appreciated.....Dennis

There is no age restriction on a car/pickup brought in under an FM3. There are age restrictions for nationalizing vehicles, but that is not a concern for you now.

Dennis you won't have any problem in April finding a 1-year rental within your price-range. I suggest you get one with off-street secure parking (as that 1979 F250 in good condition will be admired and coveted by many!). When you fly down, in addition to using R.E. agents, don't overlook the 'posting boards' around town. You will find some good 'for rent by owner' postings there. Look at the boards at: 1) Lake Chapala Society grounds in Ajijc, 2) outside the Super Lake (San Antonio) and El Torito (Ajijic) grocery stores, 3) inside Donas Donuts (Ajijic), to name a few.

Good Luck.
