Need help finding good electronic repair shop

Can't Post | Private Reply
About 3 years ago, my wife and I bought a VHS/DVD player locally and it has over time developed a problem. The DVD tray either won't open on command, or opens and closes so quickly that you can't put in a disk. It has now progressed to the point where it refuses to open at all, although the VHS player remains operable. Does anyone have any recommendation as to a reliable, reasonably priced electronics shop in the Lake Chapala area (preferably in Ajijic)?

Try Electroventa in Riberas (Hidalgo #231-B ). They are very good and very reliable and seem to be able to fix almost anything from TV's to refrigerators. Phone number is 765-2222.

I wouldn't put much money into this unit unless it has low hours, eventually the laser
will die in units like this and it will start skipping. If you can fix it on the cheap OK.

We've taken all our broken TVs, DVD players (even a couple of my husband's old reel-to-reel tape recorders) to Sr. Alberto Beltran, who can be found in Chapala at Madero 467-A, about a block or so below the bus station. His phone number there is 765-3949. No sign but just look for a store with a bunch of old tv's piled up and that's him. Betcha he can fix it! And not charge too much, either!

Get an estimate to repair it first. It may or may not be able to be repaired. You know what you paid for it and you can judge whether it's worth it or not to repair it depending on brand name and quality. We have an 18 year old Sony VHS player still running without repair which is unusual. Ask how long he will guarantee it.

I know people who have had bad experiences having guys in this area repair electronics. One was my Cousin who sent his 8 year old 32" Sony TV out for repair. The person told him he couldn't get the part. My Cousin called me and asked what to do. I told him that it was bullshit the guy couldn't get the part because he was too lazy to find it. I told him to call Oscar at SONY in Guadalajara and they'd repair it. Sure enough, he had it back delivered to him and set up with a 4 month Guarantee.

The ONLY place to have any TV repaired or buy a new SONY TV is:
SONY SERVICE SHOP - Best SONY Dealer & Best Prices in Guadalajara
FACTORY AUTHORIZED SALES & SERVICE - Have ANY TV Repaired - Guaranteed Work
Ave. Guadalupe # 850 - Col. Chapalita - Guadalajara, MX 45040
Talk to: OSCAR (Sales & Service - Speaks English)
Telephones/FAX: 01 333 121 6483 OR 01 333 647 3514
