Muffin Needs a Home

Can't Post | Private Reply
A friend sent this to me and asked me to pass it on. It's really heart-breaking. Click on the link to see photos https://picasaweb.google.com/simpsca2000/Downloads#

Would anyone like to adopt a 15 year old toy poodle named muffin? Her owner for
all 15 years is very ill and has been taken back to the States. Muffin doesn't
understand what's happening. She is in dire need of a home. She is only about 6
pounds and has a very sweet temperament. She has been a lap dog all her life.
She is perfect for a quiet home and someone who doesn't want a long term
commitment of raising a puppy. Please help me find a home for muffin. Pass this
along to all of your friends. She is with our groomer right now in Riberas but
she can't keep her. She has many large dogs. Please see attached pictures.
Thanks for your help. Call me if you have any questions.

I know you mean well, as all of your posts are so helpful. Think you have come to a dead end on this one. Who is going to adopt a 15 year old dog, fall in love with it and then watch her die, as she has already overlived her life expectancy.. Sad story. I see no positive solution for Muffin. T.

I agree that placing a dog that age would be a toughie at best, so I'll repeat what I've said in a couple of other places:

We are all going to face old age, disability, illness (including being moved elsewhere with our without our wishes) and finally....death. If we care about pets, we need to make arrangements before that happens so that they won't be "left behind" like Muffin.

It's a very kind thought, Simpsca and in spite of the odds, I hope it works out well for the pup.

The arrangements should have been made before, not after Muffin's owner had to leave. I, like all of us hope for a quick demise and not months or years of suffering. Boy, if this is not an upbeat topic. T.

Of course "before", eh? Didn't I say it right?

No, this isn't an upbeat topic. And, like many things we don't want to think about.....the only fair thing to do for our survivors (including the fur or feather covered) is to force ourselves to think about it, and not only that....DO something about it.
Make a will, arrange for your pets' care.......all that really unpleasant stuff that goes along with being mortal.
People sometimes go on and on about how much they love their pets and how they are "part of the family" etc........but the rest of the "family" usually is provided for in a will or some other practical arrangement. We know what happens to those critters who aren't. Adios.

As the song goes: "Don't speak of love......show me."

Muffin found a forever home. One of the chat boards I posted on just let me know she has a home now.

What a wonderful and most unexpected outcome. Much credit to you, but what incredible folks to adopt, fall in love with an elderly dog, knowing that they will suffer loss when she leaves them. I find this absolutely amazing. Thanks for letting us know that your "grit" in pursuing this, caused the best possible ending. T.
