Move is getting close

My wife and I are leaving California for Ajijic on June 6th. We are getting very excited. I was there the first week of April and have rented a house for us.

What I would like to know is:

Any recommendations where to buy patio furniture, A dinning room table and chairs, floor lamps?

Is there a place that sells recliners?

Any information would be appreciated.

See you all soon!!!

You can get patio furniture at Walmart if you just want conventional NOB type stuff. For the rest of the furniture you can go right to the manufacturers in Tonala and Tlaquepaque which are just outside of Guad.

It all depends on just how adventurous you are and what your particular tastes dictate. Tonala is a shoppers paradise but one must be willing to work at it a bit. While certainly not a complete sourcing guide, the following Tonala website should give you an idea of the overall diversity of product:
http://www.tonala.com.mx/portal/index.php
Tonala not only had 1000's of shops but is also a manufacturing center for the area.If you don't see exactly what you want, you can generally find someone to build it for you and the prices are generally much better than shopping in Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque or at the Lake. If you like wrought iron, your choices are endless but I would caution you on making sure of the quality of finish. Some Mexican paints are not durable and you may experience problems with rust spots or chipping.

If you are interested in wood furniture ie: dining table, you might take a look at the site which follows:
http://www.mueblesrusticosdemezquite.com/ini/index.php
This company specializes in furniture of mesquite wood, which is quite attractive when finished correctly and much more durable than the pine one often finds in furniture.

If you are looking for unique high quality patio furniture, I would recommend taking a look at:
http://www.mueblesfundidos.com.mx/
Most of their furniture is cast aluminum with a powder coat finish that is far more durable than any painted metal furniture. For us, we found that this outfit has a large number of styles or designs and their quality stands out!

Illumina and Decora has a patio furniture store near SuperLake. There's also one on Lopez Mateos Sur near Rattan de Guadalajara, a maker of beautiful rattan furniture including dining rooms. Plascencia is large high-quality furniture store in Guadalajara.

Just so they know a good patio set (not plastic chairs) is 5 to 10 thousand pesos. Just a square
plastic table and four good plastic chairs cost me 756 pesos at wally world. I saw a nice set of four
chairs with upholstered pads (yes it is nice but) was 7700 pesos. Good quality garden furniture lakeside
is ridiculously priced in my opinion. Go to Tonola and buy in my opinion.

Z,

Totally agree with you. Quality outdoor furniture is very expensive here. That is why I have plastic, also. T.
