Man Friday available

I had one of those Thank God experiences. I needed a new side mirror for my car, I thought I would be going to Guadalajara to Honda spending lots of money and the day waiting. My neighbor who chauffers people offered to show me where to go. I thought he meant Honda. When we got there he took me to a major auto parts store which only had the whole piece not the mirror piece only. I have limited spanish so he spoke for me and asked where to find the mirror alone. He then directed me to the next place where he told me we could negotiate here and proceeded to go in alone to negotiate the price. I not only got an unbelievable price, thanks to him but they installed it to.

He is a chauffer taking people to medical appts., etc. and is also available as a gardener which he did in the United States. He also is willing to help you or do errands around Guadalajara or Lakeside that may require spanish or negotiating. He is very honest and knowledgeable. He really knows the Guadalajara area. His english is limited but communicating with him is not difficult. His name is Alfonso De Anda. He can be reached on his cell phone at 331-131-3356. He was a god send for me, saved me alot in time, money and anxiety. I thought I would pass the word along as I am sure he would be very helpful to many out there.

A taxi driver here can be worth his weight in gold...so to speak :)

When my 85 year old mother fell while visiting, she had to go to Guad. to be operated on. I spoke very little Spanish at the time. No one spoke English. I couldn't even figure out how to use the phone at the hospital to call my sister and brother. I felt terribly alone and helpless. I finally managed to reach a friend in Ajijic and she sent her cab driver in to help me. He took care of everything, stayed at the hospital until she was released and then drove us home at midnight.

Jean, I'm so glad things worked out for you.

It's scary when we find ourselves or our loved ones needing help with the system and language.

In Guadalajara (and Lakeside), I highly recommend Beatriz de la Garza. So do a number of other people who participate on the forums.

She helps out with doctor and dentist appointments, immigration and IMSS paperwork and much, much more. If you'd prefer a woman's company and assistance, she's wonderful. We've been friends for more than 25 years.
