This talented ensemble is quickly gaining recognition throughout the United States, and is made up of celebrated concert violinist Ann Miller, Grammy-nominated cellist Nina Flyer and award-winning pianist Sonia Leong. Ann Miller, violinist, made her New York debut as a soloist with the new Juilliard Ensemble, and has performed in venues throughout New York City, Mongolia and Ukraine. She has also performed in Switzerland during an exchange program between Juilliard and the Lucerne Festival Academy. Nina Flyer, cellist, has toured, recorded and taught throughout Europe, Scandinavia and America. She has been principal cellist with the symphony orchestras of Jerusalem, Bergen (Norway) and Iceland, and held the position of principal cellist with the San Diego Symphony. Critics have hailed the New Pacific Trio for its “passion and dexterity” and its “infectious musical vivacity”, saying “the audience roared its approval.” Their program will include Beethoven’s piano trio, (Op.97), best known as the Archduke Trio since it was dedicated to his patron and pupil the Archduke of Austria. Also Ernst Bloch’s “Three Nocturnes for Piano Trio” is a work which expresses the idioms and emotional qualities of Hebrew folk music. These three short pieces are mesmerizing works, by turns haunting, lyrical and restless. Finally the American composer Paul Schoenfield is known for combining popular, folk and traditional classical styles. The trio will entertain us with some of his renowned “Café Music”. This will be an excellent concert by three talented young performers. As usual, the performance (on Tuesday, March 17) begins at 7.30 pm at the Auditorio de la Ribera in Ajijic. Tickets are 250 pesos, and will be on sale at LCS Tickets, Etc from March 10 through March 16 – 10 am to 12.15 pm – and at Charter Club Tours. and at the Auditorio before the concert.
