Does anyone get the Lake Chapala Review? I'd like to hear some opinions before I go ahead and sign up.

I get Living at Lake Chapala with Judy King, Karen Blue and other writers. I really enjoy reading my once a month issue. It is very informative about things you would need for everyday life in the area and it also has other parts of Mexico included. It is a wonderful deal. Check it out.

Kathleen :) :) :)

You will find more pertinent information here than you will ever find in the Lake Chapala Review or the Ojo Del Lago for that matter.

Rarely are things about Lakeside published in either paper, except in the Ojo, there is the social scene at Lakeside.

The Ojo can also be read online as can the Review. On online subscription to the Guadalajara Reporter might be useful as they also cover things at Lakeside as well as Mexico in general.

The only thing you would find in the two local papers are the ads which may be of value to you.

Jean Sutherland (Tuatha), don't be so modest. We haven't forgottten the two excellent columns that you write each monthe for El Ojo del Lago, the one on medical and health news, and the other about Anita's Animals. And there is much more of interest in the publication besides the Lakeside "social scene", including the other columns and the many interesting ads for restaurants, businesses, and home sales and rentals. Free here and well worth the modest price to have it sent to the U.S. or Canada.

Ahh shucks, t'wernt nuttin.

I agree there are many columns that are very interesting and good, but I had the feeling she was looking for things on Mexico and living here. Rarely does a column reflect on life here.

I love the ads...I probably learn more from the ads than anything else. But since it will be a couple of years before she is here and you know how fast things can change here, I just wondered if it was of value to pay such a high price for a subscription when there is so much information here.

I'm really going to miss both papers when I leave. I will still be writing Anita's Animal Corner from up north, as well as trying to raise money for her, but I am looking for someone to take over the Medicine Cabinet ( Writing experience not necessary :) and I will still be writing the occasional article for El Charel.

I don't think Lakeside will ever leave my blood.

it's a matter of perspective - yours and usn's who can't get enough info to tide us over til we can move there.

as a very short-term visitor (just a few days) i grabbed all the free copies of Ojo and Review that I could.

IMO, there's a LOT of news. In fact, a lady posted a question ref looking for a penpal for her daughter who was going to Oak Hill next year.

I was able to tell her to check it out cos I'd read that they'd closed the school.

And even when things are available online, I still like to have the paper version in my grubby little hands. Will I pay for the postal subscription? probably not.
