Ken Edwards shop in Ajijic

We have stopped by the Ken Edwards shop over near the Hotel Danza del Sol on several occasions in the last few months. All the inventory is sitting on the floor, laid out as if waiting for display cases. No opening of the shop. Does anyone know what's up with that?

I have no idea what a "Ken Edwards" shop is. I tried a Google search and that didn't help. I'll be back in Ajijic later this month and would love to know what I am missing.

Ken Edwards designs and produces pottery ... some of the most beautiful you will find in Mexico. He has a "factory" in Tonala and a shop in Tlaquepaque that is run by those who took over the Mexican business from him. I believe he is now in Central America, and is elderly. But the pottery he produces has a distinctive blue/gray background color and very delicate painted figures that appear frequently in Mexican pottery: deer, rabbits, fish, birds and butterflies.

We drive by that shop daily and a sign has advertised his opening for months. We really like his stuff and have been excited about his opening. However, we have lived in Mexico long enough to realize that this may never happen. On the other hand, the new Villa del Arte Restaurant has just opened across the street and is a great place to enjoy a good meal while watching for signs of life which may or may not occur on the other side of Rio Zula. The food and drink at Villa del Arte are good enough to mellow you out regardless of what happens across the street.

Mexico is full of "auspicious beginnings" as Jack Nocholson said about his character in Five Easy Pieces. Just relax.

Oh, Bubba, I'm relaxed as can be .... I wasn't sure if the shop was coming or going. Gives me an excuse to go toTlaquepaque.
