It has begun . . . WRONG!

From my comments for the June Issue:

May. The killer month. Hot, oppressive, no wind, no air, no humour. May is the time when relationships are tested as patience runs thin and the blood is already nearing the boiling point. The smart folk have gone to higher altitudes or higher latitudes. Those of us who remain for one reason or another, mutter curses under our collective breath, hurling them unrelentingly at those escapees. A day-trip to Tapalpa or to Mazamitla just to cooool off - and to remember what life will soon be like once again. We will have stories to tell of the blistering May of 2003. The escapees can only return and gloat.

Well, it appears that the rains have begun. Finally. After raining in other parts of Mexico for up to three weeks, Tlaloc has turned his attention to La Ribera. Three nights ago a good beginning, two nights ago, some, last night and today - a good, continual solid rain.

Finally!

The nude dancing in the life-giving and refreshing rain may now begin. (Behind your garden walls please.)

Wow! I knew there was a time difference between Miami and Mexico, but never dreamed it was a month! It is June here and has been hot and humid for several months now.

Does this mean I will be a month younger when I visit or move to Mexico? Seriously, does it get worse in June and July? I noticed the "high" season last until about March.

I really enjoy reading the post, absorbing the knowledge from you guys who are already lucky enough to be able to "retire" there. Some day, it will happen for me too.

Nude Dancing?

David.....thank you for the invitation, but Patty and I have decided that, in our case, nude dancing would be somewhat less than fulfilling for us and/or any possible observers.

May we just rejoice in the rain by sitting on the terrace and sipping a bit of tequila?

Turns out my excitement was driven by a pacific disturbance that gave us a false start to the rainy season.
Today is the 13th, the day that tradition says is the beginning of the rainy season. No rain for the last 3 nights and unless I am mistaken (THAT is easy to do!) it ain't gonna rain today either!

So, hold off that nude dance UJ, UD and all the rest of you born-again kids.

I don't know about the lakeside area, but about 60 miles south of you in Sayula, we had a downpour that started about 4:30 p.m. and last for about 1 1/2 hours. So, for us, it looks like 6/13 was the start of our rainy season.

Maybe all that nude "dancing" by the farmers protesting in D.F. , the last several days, is helping the rain situation here in Jalisco.
