We know, at arm's length, of 5 who are moving in direct response to the narco problem. Three have not been able to resist nor relieve the anxiety of elderly parents and/or grown children with regard to safety, one has health problems which are the primary reason but would return here after treatment if it weren't for the escalation hereabouts, and the last is leaving because they just are not suited for expat living anywhere, always complaining and constantly fretful. With the pull of elderly parents and grandchildren always a factor in returning, the inability to calm those family members and the increasing headline coverage of incidents in Mexico will undoubtedly make it increasingly difficult for people who are here on an 'adventure' so to speak to resist the argument to return. Those would be the people who were not truly invested in a change for life, just a vacation fromthe US. We have been told by several couples who only winter here that they are missing about half their usual contingent of companions for winter activities. One couple mentioned they have noticed a significant difference in evening seating at resturants. And there is a TON of properties for sale and for rent.
