FM3

We just obtained our FM3's on Feb. 26. We will be crossing the border on March 30. Can anyone tell me how many days we have from the day that we got them till the day that we have to get them stamped? At the Consulate's office here in Tucson, the lady first told us we had 30 days in which to get them stamped,,, then a man working in the office overheard her and told her that was incorrect, that we have 90 days. I've looked online, and I see some sites that say 30 days, some say 45 days. HELP!!! We will be slightly over 30 days, and I don't know if that is acceptable or not. Seems that each place I look gives a different answer.

I believe it is 90 days. That is what was rubber-stamped on page 4 of my FM3. It says:

"You have 90 days from the date of issuance of this FM3 to have it stamped by the Mexican Immigration authorities at the port of entry; otherwise it will be automatically void."

The more things change the more thay stay the same, and one of the major things that stays the same is that everything changes.

My ratty old FM-3, on page 2 states that I have 30 days to register it. Things could have changed since I got mine, and I don't have that stamp on mine. And forms may have changed. We now have blue window stickers for our cars instead of green. There seems to be a lot of updating going on recently.

Spidey, my suggestion is to believe both Rolly and me but to look inside your personal FM-3 to see what it says. Contradictions abound when dealing with almost any institution or organization down here, but most of us love it since it keeps us alert.
