Are there any eye doctors close to Ajijic and a place to get eye glasses close by?

I highly recommend Dr. Pinto. Has all the medical background, speaks English if you need to, a complete selection of glasses and very pleasant people in the office.

Going East, past "Moms" restaurant, and on past the Maskaras Clinic (on the way to Chapala), about a block. White building on the corner next to a cheese place, same side of the street..
Hidalgo 77-2 Riberas del Pilar. Chapala
(376) 765-7793.

Got exam, two pairs of graduated trifocals and frames for a little over $2000 pesos recently.

Just a reminder - always do a thorough "due diligence" on any professional before committing to any major interventions. This applies as much NOB as here in Mexico.

Another thought regarding Eye Care... If you have Myopia (near sightedness), you might want to consider laser surgery to correct your eye contour and eliminate the need for glasses entirely. I had it done decades ago, when it was still under evaluation in the USA. From 6+ in one eye and 7+ in the other, ended up 20/20. What a liberating feeling from decades of eye glasses. At that time, only one eye at a time, with a 6 month interval to make sure no lasting damage to the corrected eye was incurred. Now it's both at a time, and recovery is much quicker. And the prices are low. There is a Guadalajara physician advertising in a Lakeside "giveaway" periodical who claims to have the most advanced laser equipment in all of North America, including the USA & Canada.
