This is a new store selling what they call "organiic" produce and breads and cereals and the like and soon they plan to start carrying "organic" meats and poultry and they are located at Constitución #52A between Javier Mina and Nicolas Bravo in Eastern Ajijic. They are open between 9AM and 2PM and then from 4PM to 7PM M-F and from 10AM to 3PM on Saturdays. The proprietor to whom I have spoken speaks good English and their telephone number is 788-5058.

The reason I bring this up is that these folks have some wonderful breads and a variety of some of the best granolas I have ever tasted and Dawg is a granola freak. I have yet to try their vegetables and, of course, their meats are still not available. The fellow who has been in charge when I have shopped there tells me their produce and breads and processed food products are largely from the Mexico City area.

This store sells some wonderful "organic" cereals and breads and I love this place and I limit my recommendation to those things simply because I have not tried their vegetables and fruits and they have yet to open their meat and poultry market. They are located near the CARE Clinic and the place where the Wednesday Ajijic tianguis is held.

Go try their wonderful breads and granolas.

And while you're there.....stop next door at Cocina San Andres.

Have had a few pleasant surprises from that place. It's food to go. They've scaled WAY back since they opened a few months ago.....was much more ambitious at the outset.....but still.

Several months ago I had an agua fresca infused with basil that made me sit up and take notice. Recently they've had some very nice chiles rellenos each Friday. And their sandwhiches are a good go....and.....

I believe they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays, otherwise opens around noonish each day.

Thank you Tashby. Yes Ecotienda is next to Cocina San Andres and I´ve been meaning to try it. These places line my daily walk so I have this great idea. First a walk through the leafy beauty of La Floresta and then food to go at San Andres accompanied by delicious organic bread from Ecotienda followed by tequila shooters at Tom´s Bar and a bench on the new malecon for a necessary nap. I could possibly live to be 100 following this regimen. Ah, life in the semi-tropics.
