EMERGENCY BLOOD DONATION O NEGATIVE-URGENT!!!!!!

Can't Post | Private Reply
Dear friends,

Larry Cobb who lives in the Residential Zone in Guayabitos, needs your help!!!!!

We desperately need all donors with type O negative blood to help a fellow Guayabitos Resident out who is waiting for surgery..the hospital will not operate on him without a sufficient supply.

O negative is bit more rare than the other types to find and in quantity...

The hospital wants donors who are over 18 and under 50.No drugs in the system,no alcohol in your system 72 hours prior,etc..no tattoos, they won't typically accept donations from persons who have tattoos.

Larry is sitting at the hospital right now in Guadalajara waiting for an open heart surgery procedure and does not have sufficient O Negative Blood for the operation.

You do not have to go to Guadalajara to donate. You may donate the blood at your local IMSS hospital either in La Penita or Puerto Vallarta under the name of Lawrence Michael Cobb who is at the Centro Medico Occidente Guadalajara.

Please help spread the word to all your Guadalajara,Ajijic and Vallarta friends as well..

Susan Cobb, Larry's wife is really struggling to find qualified donors at this most critical hour..please help out if you physically can..what goes around comes around..as they say...

Johan....If we all do a little we can do a lot. Visit our little corner of paradise at the Jaltemba Jalapeño.

Try checking with American Legion members in both Chapala and Guadalajara. Post it on the LCS bulletin board.

Put the posting that you have here on the lakechapalainfo forum. You'll get more exposure to those living Lakeside. Or have someone do it for you.

I would consider posting huge notices on the Super Lake and El Torito bulletin board.

I had an operation in Del Carmen hospital several years ago and needed two pints of blood. I have O Rh negative which is very rare. I can't donate because I'm 67 and take meds for epilepsy. We tried everywhere to get blood, but couldn't find any donors either Lakeside or in GDL.

I wish your friend good luck in hopes that he can find a donor.

Anybody know the reason for the 50 year old rule here? In the US (red cross) no upper limit.
Kinda hard to find donors in a retirement area with this kind of rule.

I understand from my friend who is married to a Mexican woman who was a dentist and all her brothers are doctors in Guadalajara, that when large amounts of blood is needed, the family doctor or someone in the family puts a notice on university bulletin boards and the students are paid for contributing blood. I don't know what the current cost is but it used to be 200 pesos many years ago when my friend had open heart surgery. I think it's around 400 pesos per donor now.

A university is the one place you will find enough people who meet the age requirements and not taking medicines.

Sorry folks the original information is incorrect. An update sent to me recently says the upper limit is 65 years.

Thanks also for the suggestion about posting and university students. I will pass that on.
