Driving instructions (maps?) from Nogales

Can't Post | Private Reply
Hi,

Will be leaving California next week to drive down and crossing the border at Nogales. No AAA there. Any web sites to give me help? I know the general route, however more complete driving instructions or maps would be great. Thanks again.

Either I'm losing my mind....possible....or the replies that previously existed in this thread disappeared. Anyway....we *just* drove this route a few days ago. Entered at Nogales (via Mariposa Exit 4 access) on 4/2 and arrived in Ajijic yesterday on the 5th. We overnighted in Guaymas the first night, then after a LONG day of driving overnighted in Mazatlan. Then we overnighted again in Mazatlan because we didn't want to get right back in the car.

I bought a paper copy of Guia Roji for myself for Christmas last year in anticipation of the trip. They're also on the web I'm sure (at least that's what the other posts I imagined said). The paper version is just like the Thomas Guide that's so prevalent in the US. The internet is great....but it was reasuring in the car to have it, look at it when we didn't have internet access. Just to get a sense of where we were, how much further we had to drive before finding a place to overnight (with a dog).

All that said, the route is dead easy and well-signed. You really don't even need it.

Bien Viaje!

Just drove it last week. We drive from San Diego area and usually stop at Santa Ana or Guaymas if we want a long first day and a shorter second day. Then we go to Mazatlan the second day and on in to Ajijic the third day. The second day (if we stop in Santa Ana) is quite long, but there are no good stopping places between Culiacan and Maz and we prefer not to stop in Culiacan because years ago we were told it it a narco haven and we're too stupid to rethink the reality of that warning.

Toll for us was $1,338 pesos including the bridge across the Colorado at SLRC. We averaged 60+ mph each day including stops. All the roads we used were excellent.

For this trip, the only map you need is a good Auto Club (AAA) map. It has an excellent mileage chart that is spot on as to distances between towns and accurately shows the various toll roads and other roads along the way.
