Death & Red Tape

As Ajijic and the surrounding area is a magnet for retirees there should be a significant population of older people. Death should not be an uncommon experience. My question has to do with death and it's aftermath. Are there specialists who help with making arrangements to send the body back to the U.S. and to deal with the bureaucracy that surrounds the passing of someone? How complicated is it when someone dies in Ajijic ?

My mother-in-law passed away a couple of years ago at one of Alicia's homes in Ajijic. The process of getting her body back to Kerrville TX was extremely simple. We called a funeral home in Guadalajara (I'd have to get the name from the file) who came to the house. They took care of getting the death certificate from the consulate, the casket, transportation, booking on a flight to San Antonio and coordinated the pickup with a funeral home in Kerrville. Not a bit of bureaucratic red tape involved.

We are interested in LIVING in Ajijic but death is a possibility we have to consider. Thanks again.
