Gerry, the software is called DVD X COPY and DVD X COPY EXPRESS. We are subscribed to Netflix and have successfully copied every movie we've rented, I'm converting all movies we have on VHS to DVD. The first version, DVD X COPY will sometimes split the movie up so it will take 2 DVD's to record. The newer version X COPY EXPRESS will actually compress the movie so it will fit on 1 DVD. The quality of the recorded disks are just as good as the original, the 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound is retained. This is completely legal. The software actually inserts a disclaimer at the beginning of each movie, stating that this is a back-up copy. DVD X COPY EXPRESS only copies the movie itself, none of the trailers. We bought ours at CompUSA. I buy DVD media in bulk at this website: www.meritline.com, their ACCU brand works great. I usually buy 100 bundled with the DVD cases. This website: www.dvdlister.com has downloadable covers, right-click on them and save. I create the covers in .ppt (made a master spine - I can send you a copy). Oh yeah - you will need a DVD burner, I recommend the SONY DRU500A, It records ALL formats -R/RW and +R/W. We're planning on visiting Lakeside during Thanksgiving week for the first time, we're thinking about retiring there; I'd gladly bring down a recorded DVD so you can check out the quality yourself. Also a note of caution: these recorded DVD's may NOT play back in a lot of the older DVD players. www.dvdxcopy.com has a list of compatible players.
