Bus to Sayula

Can't Post | Private Reply
My sister and I will be in the Lake Chapala area the end of Sept. and need to know if we can catch a bus to Sayula from the Lake area or must we go back to Guadalajara to catch the bus. Just need some direction, please. We will also need a hotel recommendation. The only one I have seen on the Google search is Casa de los Patios in Sayula. Does anyone know of another? We will also be going to Tapalpa.
Thanks,
Becki

Becki, Have you been seduced by the 'Sweet Secrets of Sayula', ja ! ja!

Buses that travel that route, either exit via the 'new' (although at the time of this post, 'old':) long-distance bus station on the out-skirts of Guadalajara.

Or via the 'old' bus station( can a metropolis have an 'inner skirt'?) in Guadalajara.

From the 'new' bus station, the bus travels more directly with less stops off the highway. From the 'old' bus station, you can catch a bus, direct to small places like Talpalpa with no transfers. However a number of 'stops' in local towns along the way.

Higher-end places to stay, have websites. Others have not.

In almost every town of my Mexican acquaintenance, there is often high, mid and low end 'accomodation. Might be in your interest to arrive early enough in any day, to apply some foot leather, to walking around a few blocks and making pertinent inquiries. There are 'internet' prices and then there are 'negiotated' prices.

However if new to seeking many such accomodations, always ask to 'see' the room. Look around, turn things, off and on, water and electricity look out the windows, check the location of the week-end disco etc.

Quality is often variable. High-end price can sometimes end in low-end experience.
Or be the real deal. Or low-end can sometimes net, a crap or a quality experience.

Outer visual appeal is often created to 'attract'. It takes time and energy to find out, more what is really, 'what'.

I'm afraid I HAVE been seduced by Sayula.....if only thru the internet and pics I've seen on Don's site. Incidentally, one of your articles about the area was extremely enthralling. So, with that said, I am looking forward to our search for "shangri la". I am, however, prepared for disappointment AND unexpected bliss.

Your direction has helped us decide that we will probably bus from the Tepic area, after checking it out, and go to Guad....bypass the Lake area.....and head straight for Sayula and Tapalpa. If those areas don't "sing" to us then we will go back to lakeside and ultimately back to PV to fly back to Dallas. All of this in 11 days!! Hopefully we will be "taken" with the Sayula area and spend most of our time there.

I value your information because I have read, extensively, your articles and posts. You are truly a wealth of information..... as is Esperanza.

We are anxiously anticipating our trip and hope it goes smoothly. We are the laid back type and don't worry too much if things don't go EXACTLY as planned. Heck, we've already changed our minds about where we will go umpteen times since we started planning this trip months ago.

Again, thanks so much for your help.

Becki
