How far is it to SMA from Lakeside? Could you do a day trip to see those incredible flying concrete houses or should you plan to spend the night?

It's about 4-6 hours from SMA to Guadalajara, not sure if it is more or less to "Lakeside". Guad to Leon is all cuota--very fast-- Leon to SMA is not cuota, so traffic, weather, etc. are factors.

It's a good 6 hours from Ajijic to San Miguel. You'll want to make it at least a one-night-stand, and maybe two. By the time you see your concrete houses, then poke around in San Miguel for a while, have a leisurely meal or two, drive the half hour to Dolores Hidalgo to see the talavera workshops, maybe take a little trip over to Atotonilco to see the church...gosh, sounds like a two-night-stand to me. Why hurry?
