¡Hola, amigos costeños!
Wow, this forum resembles the "panteones" after the Día de Muertos! Well, fortunately there are enthusiastic people who are very interested in knowing more about Xalapa and the surrounding area. Stephen and Marie have started "Visit Xalapa" http://www.VisitXalapa.net and are looking for participants. They haven't even been here before!
And speaking of people never visiting Xalapa before, and deciding to live here, is a couple from Cleveland, Ohio(Dennis and Ellen). They made the firm decision 8 years ago that they wanted to retire in Mexico, and 5 years ago determined that Xalapa was right for them. They first contacted me about 8 months ago, and after several long chats via Internet phone, they arrived here 4 months ago. Since then they have found a very nice furnished apartment(not one of mine!!!!) to rent, very near downtown and have become frequent visitors and my friends.
Looking forward to hearing more from other Xalapa fans.
BTW, I just got an interesting phone call from a gentleman who works at ATX(Aguas Tratadas de Xalapa), a company which is installing a waste water system for the city of Xalapa. This is excellent news, because until now all the sewage of this city has just been dumped into the local rivers.

Roy and Mexico Connect Readers,

Thanks for the nice comments about our new project, http://VisitXalapa.net. Marie is the "driving force" behind it all in terms of Blog expertise and focus on the state of Veracuz, but my hope is to actually get to Xalapa before her, at least for a substantial visit. She also has a Blog about Veracruz called, "Veracruz -- State of Mind," which can be found in the "Links" section of "Visit Xalapa."

We are very dependant on others at this point for information because we may not get to see Xalapa until February of 08 . . . so in the meantime, we are both "mining the net" for everything we can find. We are in need of some sample photos of Xalapa to use for our "masthead" and "letterheads" that we would credit to the author(s). It is not clear to us, yet, what the "final" form of our Yahoo Group and Blog will be, but I am sure we will have fun learning and trying.

If anyone reading this would share a few photos and send them to us attached to an e-mail, or send to us an invite to their photo storage site (with permission to use), please do so.

Thanks Gayla,

I had forgotten about John's site and re-visited it and added it to the Yahoo Group link section. Also, we have received some photos from Ed Portis which have been helpful to start a photo album with and put one on the masthead.

However, John Calypso, who has a Blog about Xalapa is considering starting a forum on his domain site and is requesting feedback about doing so. You can view his request by going to --
