pueblo or rancho near Patzcuaro

We recently hosted the president of an embroidery collective who said she lives about 12 kms. outside Patzcuaro (about 30 minutes, she said). The village is Santa Cruz, altho she also mentioned a rancho with a name that sounds like San Sison. We could not find this on a map. Just curious if anyone knows where this is.

She may have been referring to Tzintzuntzan which is outside of Patzcuaro on the way to Quiroga.

I have attached a map below with the location of Santa Cruz, which is accessible by a dirt road.

I hope you find it helpful.

I think there is another road from Sanabria to Santa Cruz that isnt on the map.

I know Anonimo lives out in Sanabria, near there, and may have more to say.

This is great! I had been unable to find an online map for the area that has much detai. Gotta figure out how to get the large topographic maps. Getting lost is not always fun. Plus, we'd be more inclined to take interesting-looking side roads if we knew where they led!

The road from Sanabria to Los Corrales is paved. A paved road also goes north from Las Cuevas, about midway between Sanabria and Los Corrales, to Sta Cruz. From SC, an unpaved road goes on to Quiroga.
All generalities are suspect, including this one.

Yeah, Sparks. I got a link to that excellent map in my email just now. Thanks for hosting it. It's the best, most detailed one I've seen of this area to date.

You can get a pretty decent map of Mexico from your local AAA office. They also have a tourbook and information about the Mexican insurance for your car.
