Hello, Many of you knew Jean Laurentius, a Morelia resident and a very lively and generous person, who died this last March. Before her death, she had a special friend, a child named Angel, now 11 years old, who is an orphan at Casa Hogar in Morelia. Angel was born with a cleft palate and has had many surgeries and physical challenges during his life. Jean took Angel to his medical appointments, helped him out with school, and generally gave him support and love. As a result of her special attention, Angel is a lovely boy, always friendly, outgoing and helpful. Jean's death was a great loss to Angel. His school performance worsened this last semester, although he is now doing well in school. He continues to need to see doctors and dentists on a regular basis. Casa Hogar would love to find a volunteer who can speak a reasonable amount of Spanish to help by taking Angel to his medical appointments (about 8 to 12 visits per year). Casa Hogar is located on the east side of Centro, in Colonia Vasco de Quiroga, a few blocks east of Templo San Diego. If anyone is interested in helping out, please send me a private message. If you don't have a car, but would be willing to pay for taxi fares, that would also work. Thanks for listening, P.S. I'm posting this message on several boards to reach as many people as possible -- sorry for the repetition. Linda Pierce Morelia
