I have some friends flying to San Miguel for a week in August. A family from Atlanta. Anyone here with ideas of places to stay at a reasonable rate (better than what we are finding on the Internet of up to and over $1000 per week)? Apt or small house is ideal. Nothing fancy needed.

If they are only coming for a week, I'd suggest a hotel as being more practical than trying to find a house. There are many places with fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes, if they want to cook.

My first recommendation would be Casa Crayola -- all casitas with full kitchens. Carly does run a student art program in the summer, so I'm not sure if the hotel would be available in August. http://www.gomexart.com/index.html

We recommend Casa Crayola,too. However, during the summer there's the school kids from USA at the school. Perhaps, In August the classes have ended. Maybe you can find a place with Carly's mom (Caren -- she did Lost and Found In Mexico, an award winning film) who has some places,too.
