where to stay between Troncones and Barra de Navidad

My husband and I will be returning to Barra de Navidad from Troncones/Zihuatanejo on Jan.2, '09 by car. I'm wondering where might be a nice place to stay so that we can reach Barra on Jan. 3. Any comments or suggestions about that stretch of the road would be greatly appreciated. Also, if there's a shortcut to the town of Colima from Puerto Vallarta by car and/or if there's an air taxi service, I'd appreciate knowing about that. Thanks. Maria
