i cant believe i have found these places in GDL: CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN, PF CHANGS, CRYSPY CREAM (DONUTS) JOHNNY ROCKETS (HAMBURGUERS)....

Why not? Guadalajara is a big city, room for lots of kinds of places. Look at who the customers are, I'll bet they are (by a large majority) Mexican.

"by a large majority Mexican" or Majority large Mexicans.... Given the restaurants probably both.....

And for anyone searching for that elusive "gringo-free" experience in Mexico, I suggest eating at Applebee's in the Plaza Galerias, Zapopan, Guadalajara Meto area Westside.

Eatin' good in the neighborhood, indeed.

my favorite steak house is "la matera" in zapopan..... hands down the best steaks in mexico

If you're talking about the Argentine restaurant La Matera at Av. México #2891 (esq. Isabel la Católica), it's in Guadalajara.

And yes indeed, the best steaks I've eaten anywhere in Mexico. Fantastic. The churrasco--the vacío--absolutely the best. I'll be in GDL in a week and that may be our restaurant of choice on the 23rd.

Esperanza, enjoy your trip. We really appreciated the advice you gave us before our trip to Guadalajara last year. We'll have to go back to be able to try even more places to eat.
