driving south to Lus Ayala Nayarit

I am driving to Lus Ayala in June and I plan to cross the border at 7am at Nogales Az I only want to drive day light hours , I plan to drive about 10 to 12 hours a day could someone tell me where it would a good place to get a motel and it would be safe as I will be towing a trailer with household goods.

I can't answer your 'where' question, but I can assure you that a motel will offer good security for you.

If you don't understand about Mexican motels, look here to learn about them.

Hola, First it is Los Ayala, I cross at Lukeville AZ which is faster for me, if you must cross at Nogales use the truck bypass that opens at 6AM I believe, driving 12 hours will get you to Navajoa, I stay at the Best Western Rio( secure parking) because they accept dogs, I drive through to Guayabitos the next day or you can stop in Mazatlan...suerte

Los Ayala is located on Jaltemba Bay north of Puerto Vallarta.

From Nogales, many people choose to break up the drive with stops in Navojoa, Sonora, and near Mazatlan. Each city is about 400 miles apart. You can search the posts on this forum for these two cities to get motel recommendations.

Also, I suggest that you re-post your query on this bulletin board to get advice from people who live in the area and who regularly make the drive south:

Without a trailer I've made it to Navojoa in winter daylight hours from Nogales. Second day to Tepic ... and I'm sure the second leg is easier with the new highway south of Mazatlan.

Navojoa has two secure motels just before you enter town on the right
