Wanted: Apartment and new friends in Guadalajara

I'll be in GDL from December 3-13 to look for an apartment and hope to move in January or February. If anyone knows of a 1-2 bedroom furnished apartment in a nice and central location that will allow a very well-behaved declawed indoor cat, please let me know. I also plan to visit and join the American Society while I'm down there, but would also love to meet and chat with other expats living in the city. If you live in GDL and would be willing to meet me for coffee, lunch, dinner or a drink, please let me know. I'll be staying in a room in a private home in Plaza del Sol.

I suggest you check out www.mexpat.com, an organization of expats with a strong Guadalajara chapter, including monthly get togethers for drinks at 840 Oyster Bar. I think it's on the 4th Thursday of each month.

Thanks. I've checked it out and put my name on the mailing list. From what I could see one already needs to live in Mexico to actually join (asks for an address and phone number in Mexico.

A friend of mine (Mexican) just called me this week. She has a two bedroom, two bath apartment near Plaza del Sol. I believe it needs a kitchen, but I'm sure she would be reasonable about rent if someone were to install a basic kitchen (cost about $1000 including appliances). If you are interested, pm me and I'll get her phone number. I think she was going to put an ad in the Guadalajara Reporter, which is another good source. This place just happens to be a very prime location.
