Visit Tlaquepaque

We have friends who are coming for a visit around Thanksgiving, first time in this part of Mexico. We want to take them up to Tlaquepaque (and maybe el centro). If the days available for this visit are Friday thru Monday, what day would you recommend visiting and why?

Thanks.

Well, I would vote for Saturday or Sunday. Why?
Saturday: you can go for lunch/dinner from 2 to 4 at El Patio restaurant. Now, I know Esperanza disapproves of this choice. But, for someone who's never been to Mexico: you can get a sampler of Mexican foods, good ballad singers from 2 to 3, and enjoy an hour of live Mariachi music from 3 to 4. It's great fun for the novice. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is lively. At 4 there is also a live show at the Parian. However, I find the food there to be worse than my own cooking. The beer is good. The shops are open all day, as is the not-to-be-missed Museo de Ceramica on Independencia.

Sunday: Same as above, except not all the shops are open all day. But, Sunday all day and into the evening, is family day. Everyone is out and about and it's just fun to sit in front of the gazebo by the church and watch the families come and go with their little girls all dressed up in their Sunday best.

On both days, all of the street vendors have their stalls set up.

On Sunday they have the big street market in Tonala. I think they would ejoy walking around there for a while. And it is close to Tlaquepaque.

I think that is the same weekend as the FIL International Book Fair in Guadalajara, lucky visitors!
